Vitrified bonded dressing abrasive sticks are unfinished and primarily used to clean or reshape grinding wheels and mounted points. Coarse grain, hard grade, silicon carbide abrasive sticks are for cleaning and dressing conventional abrasive grinding wheels. Finer, softer sticks made with aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasive are used to clean CBN and diamond grinding wheels. A coarse, hard aluminum oxide stick with 30% Sol-Gel abrasive is a replacement for silicon carbide sticks in applications where silicon carbide is not allowed. A medium grit with 30% Sol-Gel is also proving successful in cleaning and dressing diamond wheels.
